Description
Mirrored Bazaar (Orhan Bey Bath)
The bath is a part of the Orhan Complex, which was built by Orhan Gazi and is the first social complex in Bursa. Based on the inscription dated 1339 in the Orhan Mosque in the center of the complex, it is known that the bath was built around this time. Due to its changing usage patterns in various periods, it was also known as "Orhan Bey", "Bıçakçılar", "Hallaçlar", "Women", "Hamam Kahve" and today it is known as "Mirror Bazaar".
Orhan Bath is a very large “double” bath, consisting of men's and women's sections. Women's and men's sections consist of cold room (dressing area), hot room, private room, water tank and furnace (stove).
The building, which had undergone major repairs in the 14th, 16th and 17th centuries, underwent a comprehensive restoration after the 1958 fire and the men's part of the bath was turned into a market and the women's part was turned into a shop and warehouse.
Today, the bathhouse serves as a bazaar where objects and ethnographic products reflecting the cultural values specific to the city are sold.
