Description
Muradiye Quran and Manuscripts Museum
After the restoration, Muradiye Madrasa was re-functioned and opened as the Quran and Manuscripts Museum in 2018. In the museum, which was brought to Bursa by the Metropolitan Municipality, the rooms and portico of the madrasa building are used entirely as an exhibition area. The covered courtyard was used as an event and workshop area. Starting from the right room at the entrance to the madrasa and going up to the 10th room, the stages in the writing of the Quran are followed chronologically, from the time when the Holy Quran was first revealed to the present day. In addition to examples of bookbinding, illumination, miniature and marbling art, which are among the other Islamic book arts along with calligraphy, short video footage showing the production stages of these book arts are also included. In the main iwan, located on the opposite side of the entrance to the madrasa, the sarcophagus cover of the Sultan Murad Hüdavendigar tomb, dating back to the 18th century, and the plaques with the names of other sultans buried in Bursa are exhibited.
