Description
Lala Şahin Pasha Children's Library (Madrasah)
It was built by Lala Şahin Pasha in 1339. Lala Şahin Pasha was one of the statesmen of Orhan Gazi and Sultan Murad I Hüdavendigar and was the Governor of Rumelia.
The building is one of the first Ottoman madrasahs. Located in a garden, the madrasah reminds us of the plan scheme of Seljuk madrasahs.
The madrasa is placed in the north-south direction; It consists of the entrance section, iwan and rooms.
The square pool in the middle of the madrasa is remarkable.
In the interior, column capitals from the Byzantine period are placed on two marble columns. It is understood that the iwan part of the madrasah, which has a mihrab, was also used as a masjid.
The madrasa was last repaired in 2010 and was used as a Children's Library by Bursa Metropolitan Municipality.
