İznik Abdulvahap Sancaktari Tomb

Abdulvahap Gazi is a famous soldier who lived during the Umayyad period and participated in the Anatolian campaign with the Islamic forces. Date of birth is not known. Abdulvahap Sancaktari, who is thought to have lived between 717 and 740,  was martyred during the conquest during the conquest of Iznik by the Islamic armies that came to Anatolia . When the Turks conquered Iznik, a grave was built for this martyred flag-bearer on the hill dominating Iznik and the lake in the east of the city.
