Barrel; It is defined as a large, cylindrical, round, durable container with a bulging belly and flat bottom and top, made by fastening strips obtained from durable trees with wooden or metal straps. It is used for storing and transporting liquid substances such as water, vinegar, wine, cheese, olive oil. Barrels are made in sizes that can hold between 1 liter and 6 tons of liquid, depending on their usage areas. Oak, pine, chestnut, juniper, mulberry and spruce trees are used in its construction. The oak tree to be used in barrel making is kept for 4-5 years to dry. Materials such as hammer, hand iron, pangalya, grater, saw, compass and sandpaper are used to shape the wood used in barrel making. The metal circle on the outside of the barrel was traditionally made of wood, but today metal rings are generally used. The art of barreling is continued by craftsmen who traditionally make wooden barrels in the Iznik and İnegöl districts of Bursa.
