Üftade (Hazrat Mehmed Muhyiddin) Tomb
Üftâde Hazratleri (1490-1580) is a famous Sufi, writer and folk poet from Bursa. He is the founder and sheikh of the Celveti sect.
According to reports, Üftâde started his Sufi life as a disciple of Hızır Dede. While he was working as an honorary muezzin at the Grand Mosque and Doğan Bey Masjid, he received a salary of a few silver coins presented to him. That night, in his dream, he was subjected to the tely abandoned his salary and took the name "Üftâde" as his nickname.
Suleiman the Magnificent, Sultan III. Murad and his mother Nurbanu Sultan, statesmen and important figures of the period. They showed great respect to Üftade; They received his prayer.
The tomb has a square plan and a wooden hipped roof. The inscription placed on the western wall of the tomb says that Üftade Mehmed Muhyiddin Efendi died in 1581 and was buried in this tomb. The inscription on the entrance gate states that it was repaired by Serasker Rıza Pasha in 1844. After the 1855 earthquake and in 2009, the building underwent major repairs.
In this tomb where His Excellency Üftâde is buried, there are the sarcophagi of his children Mustafa, Mehmet, Hayrettin and Ahmet and nine people whose identities are unknown.
