Description
Abdal Murad Mosque and Tomb
Abdal is a rank in Islamic Sufism and is commonly used for colonizing dervishes. According to Güldeste owner Belîğ, Abdal Murad is one of the forty abdals who came to Bursa from Bukhara before the conquest of Bursa. He helped Orhan Gazi in the conquest of Bursa (1326), and when he died after the conquest, he was buried where his tomb is today. His huge sword and snake-shaped bronze mace, which are the subject of legends, date back to the 17th century. Although it is said that it was found in the tomb in the 19th century, it was discovered in the 19th century. It is understood that these disappeared at the end of the century. The narrations about the sword of Hasluck, Belîğ and Evliya Çelebi, who provide information based on European travelers, are different.
While Evliya Çelebi explains that Orhan Gazi donated more than a thousand copper utensils to the lodge built by Orhan Gazi on behalf of Abdal Murad, and that its surroundings were a recreation area, he also says that the lodge was in the hands of the Bektashis at that time. Although there is different information in Âşıkpaşazâde and Şekāik Translation, there is no sign of Abdal Murad's relationship with Hacı Bektâş-ı Velî in either these or Âlî and Hoca Sâdeddin. XX. Abdal Murad Lodge, which continued its existence as a Bektashi lodge until the beginning of the century, was built in the 17th century. It must have fallen into the hands of the Bektashis before the second half of the century. Today, only ruins of the tomb and lodges remain, above the lime quarry located above the Alacahırka district.
