Description
Sitti Hatun Mosque
It is understood from the inscription written in thuluth calligraphy on the entrance gate in the north that the mosque was built by Sittî Hatun in 1459. Sittî Hatun is the daughter of Oruç Bey and the wife of Zağanos Pasha, one of the viziers of Mehmed the Conqueror (1451-1481). It is also known as "Kamberler Mosque" due to the neighborhood it is located in.
It has a rectangular plan scheme, including the main place of worship and the final congregation place.
Its gable-walled façade, which is frequently seen in Bursa masjids, is in the form of a three-arched opening.
The cone of the minaret in the northwest corner of the main place of worship is in the shape of a helmet.
It was restored by the Bursa Works Lovers Institution in 1956.
