Description
Kavaklı Mosque
It was built by Koca Naib during the reign of Sultan Murad I Hüdavendigâr (1362-1389). It is understood from the phrase "the mosque that the late Koca Efendi built and rejuvenated in Kavaklı District" in the records. Koca Naib is one of the judges of the period of Murad I. It is called Kavaklı because of the plane tree that Geyikli Baba planted in front of the mosque and because the plane tree was called poplar at that time. The mosque also gave its name to the neighborhood where it is located.
The mosque consists of the main place of worship and the final congregation place.
It is known that the mosque was repaired in 1890.
