Description
Fidan Han
It was built in the 15th century by Mahmut Pasha, one of the viziers of Mehmed the Conqueror, to bring income to the mosque and soup kitchen in Istanbul.
It is one of the biggest inns of Bursa.
The inn, also known as Mahmut Pasha Inn, was also known as Saman Pazarı Inn because it was built in the area known as Saman Pazarı. It was also called "Fidan Inn" for a while because saplings were sold there, and it has survived with this name until today.
Shops are placed on two floors around the courtyard, which is designed in a square plan scheme.
There are forty-eight shops on the lower floor of the inn and fifty shops on the upper floor. There is a pool in the middle of the inn and a masjid above it, raised with 12 columns.
The inn underwent repairs in 1561, 1603, 1656 and 1760.
