Description
Abdal Musa (Musa Baba) Mosque and Tomb
The mosque was built in the name of Musa Baba at the beginning of the 16th century by Abdülkadir Efendi, one of the sheikhs of Islam during the reign of Suleiman the Magnificent (1520-1566). It is known that Musa Baba came from Bukhara and participated in the conquest of Bursa with Orhan Gazi in 1326 and performed miracles.
The graves of Abdülkadir Efendi (death 1548) and Musa Baba are located in the graveyard of this mosque. The main place of worship has a rectangular plan scheme with the last congregation place. The main place of worship is covered with a single dome with an octagonal rim and a lead coating on the outside. Its gable-walled façade, which is frequently seen in Bursa masjids, is in the form of a three-arched opening, the middle one being narrower. In the graveyard of Musa Baba Mosque, there is an open grave built in the name of Abdal Musa and uninscribed tombstones known to belong to three graves located here.
