Republic Street
34. Ottoman Sultan II. Many works and events were held simultaneously in Bursa in memory of the 25th anniversary of Abdulhamid's accession to the throne. The opening of the Hamidiye Fountain in Temenyeri and the repair of the Hüdavendigar and Orhan Mosques are a few of these.
In 1906, during the governorship of Mahmut Mümtaz Reşit Pasha (1093-1096), Sultan II. It was opened under the name "Hamidiye Street" in the name of Abdulhamid. A police station, which has not survived to the present day, and a fountain, modeled on the "Tiled Fountain" built in Ulucami in 1903, were built at both the western and eastern entrances of the street. II. The street, whose name was changed to Meşrutiyet Street with the declaration of the Constitutional Monarchy, was renamed Cumhuriyet Street in 1926.
The Noltalgic Tram, which starts from Cumhuriyet Street and continues to Yıldırım District, was put into service in May 2011 on the street, which was closed to vehicle traffic in January 2011.
