    Description

    Mudanya Aya Yani Monastery
5 km from Tirilye. Located 1 km away from the ancient port city of Kapanca, the church took its name from Aya Yani, one of the three priests who gave Tirilye its name. Only a small part of the building, known as a place of pilgrimage for Orthodox Christians, has survived to the present day. The church within the monastery was rebuilt in 709 in the name of Hagios Ioannes Thelogos, and the church, which is said to have been burned by Constantine V, was rebuilt by Leon Pelekiti IV in 755.
