    Description

    Dungeon Door Museum
It constitutes the last area at the western end of the double walls of the Bursa walls, starting from the Yerkapı plain, where defense is difficult, and extending towards the west. It is reached by a road carved into the rocks along the Cilimboz Stream and is an intermediate gate opening to the foothills of Uludağ. It is known that this gate was used by villagers coming and going to the market in the past.

Its existence is known in the Hellenistic period (2nd century BC), Byzantine period (9th century) and Ottoman period (14th century). Its name is mentioned as "Bâb-ı Siccin" in historical documents from the Ottoman period. It was named "Dungeon Gate" because there were underground dungeons under the gate and the surrounding walls. It is understood from archive documents that these dungeons were used as prisons until the late 19th century.

As a result of the restoration works initiated by Bursa Metropolitan Municipality in 2015, Zindankapi, one of the 6 gates of Bursa city walls, came to life again. In Zindankapı, which was opened on October 17, 2021, the dungeons that gave its name were functioned as a contemporary art gallery, and the historical processes of Bursa's walls were arranged to be presented to the visitors with technology and interactive areas.
