Description
sandalism
Sandals are a type of traditional shoes worn by men and women in daily life while working in the fields. In later years, with the use of machines in agriculture, agricultural machinery replaced manpower and ploughs, and as a result of migration from villages to cities, people living in cities and the development of the shoe industry made sandal making among the disappearing professions. Buffalo leather is used as the main material in making sandals. Small sandals used as amulets are also made from the leather used in sandal making after various processes. As the use of sandals in daily life decreases, sandals are made as costumes and tourist items for folk dance groups.
The decrease in the number of sandal masters and the lack of training of apprentices in this field have made this art one of the professions on the verge of extinction.
