Description
quilting
Even though the material of the quilt has changed since Hallacı Mansur, who is considered the Master of quilting, its usage area has not changed. Wool and cotton are traditionally used in quilt making. Generally, cotton fabrics are used for a quilt to be used daily, and silk and satin fabrics are used for a bridal quilt and a guest quilt. Detailed motifs are generally chosen for dowry quilts; Motifs named tulip, beauty leaf, swallow, wickerwork (Ottoman), palace tulip, violet, grape vine, branched clover are determined according to the taste of the customers. Depending on the weight of the motif, quilts are completed within a day to a week. Quilts, which have an important place in the traditional culture of Bursa, continue to decorate beds on special occasions, weddings, girls' dowries, circumcision ceremonies and births. The quilt makers' market, located in the Grand Bazaar, still stands today as a reflection of the quilt culture on the city architecture.
