Description
Kadi (Thursday) bath
It was built before 1490 by Hacı Hasanzade Kazasker Mustafa Efendi to generate income for his mosque and madrasah in Haydar, Istanbul. The bath was called "Kadı Bath" because Mustafa Efendi had the bath built while he was the judge of Bursa and most of the trustees (foundation officers) were judges and hodjas. The bath is also known as "Perşembe Hamam" or "Hamam-ı Atik".
The small-scale building is a "single" bath with a rectangular plan in the east-west direction. The cold section consists of the bath, which has not survived to the present day, the warm room, the hot room, the private secluded area, the water tank and the furnace (hearth).
The building was repaired in the 1980s and turned into a bazaar and surrounded by shops.
