Description
Old Ipek Khan
It was built by Çelebi Mehmed in the first half of the 15th century to bring income to the Yeşil Complex. It is estimated that the architect of the inn was Hacı İvaz Pasha, a valuable statesman, soldier and architect of the period.
It took this name because it was the inn where silk merchants started to gather in the early times. In old records, it was mentioned with names such as "Sultan Inn", "Han-ı Harir", "Old İpek Inn", and was also called "Phaetoncular/Arabcılar Inn".
Built in the style of classical Ottoman inns, the two-storey, porticoed, courtyard building has thirty-nine rooms on the ground floor and forty-two rooms on the upper floor. It is one of the biggest inns of Bursa. Today, the inn houses tailor workshops and shops selling clothes.
