Umurbey Mosque
II. It was built by Umur Bey in 1449 or 1451 during the reign of Murad. Umur Bey, who was both a soldier and a scholar, II. He received the rank of vizier during the reign of Murad.
There are marble Turkish inscriptions on both sides of the entrance door of the mosque, and these are the first known Turkish foundation charters in Bursa. In the foundation charter dated 1455, it is written that the mosque was built by Timurtaş's son, Umur Bey, and that the Umur Bey Bath, Tuzpazarı Caravanserai and various shops next to it belonged to the foundation.
The building has a rectangular plan, including the narthex.
The main place of worship has a square plan and is covered with a dome. It is known that the second room was used for educational purposes when the mosque was first built.
The five-section narthex is carried by three Byzantine columns with Corinthian style capitals.
The mosque has a large garden and graveyard, and there is also Umur Bey's fountain embedded in the western wall. Umur Bey's name was written on the inscription of the fountain dated 1525, which was built 64 years after Umur Bey's death.
The mosque was repaired in 1627-1628, 1795, 1825, 1858, 2014.
