Description
Basci Ibrahim Mosque
The mosque was built by a tradesman named Başçı İbrahim, who is known to have had many foundation works built in Bursa during the reign of Mehmed the Conqueror (1451-1481).
The main place of worship of the mosque is covered with a dome. The façade of the narthex of the building, which is arranged in the form of a gable wall, is connected to the courtyard with three openings. By adding three wings from the east, west and north directions to the three openings of the narthex, a 14-section porticoed courtyard was obtained.
The mosque has a graveyard in the south, where the tomb of Başçı İbrahim Bey is located.
The building was repaired by the Bursa Antiquities Lovers Institution in 1960.
