Description
Koca Naip Mosque
It was built by Mahmud Efendi, nicknamed Koca Naib, in the 15th century.
The mosque consists of two parts: the main place of worship with a single dome and the last congregation place in the north. The main place of worship has a square plan. The application of a gable wall in the narthex appears for the first time in this structure. Like the Bursa arch, this gable wall is an architectural element that Bursa brought to Ottoman architecture.
The mosque was restored to its original state in 2005.
There are many graves in the burial area to the south of the mosque.
The mosque gave its name to the neighborhood where it is located, and today this neighborhood is called "Kocanaip".
